How it works

Why Regulars?

Ratings tell you what people thought once. Regulars tells you where people keep coming back.

  1. Step 1Review it.Tell us what you ate, and answer one question: would you come back?
  2. Step 2Come back.Your repeat visits matter. Two different days at a place and you're a Regular there.
  3. Step 3Find the Regulars' Picks.Discover the places people actually return to, not just the ones they rated once.

No paid rankings.

Rankings can't be bought, and Regulars' Picks are earned. Restaurants can't pay to move up, hide a review or buy a badge.

The details

How the score works+

Every review is one full vote, whether it's your first review or your hundredth, your first visit or your tenth. "I'd come back" counts as a full yes, maybe as half, "not for me" as zero. The come-back percentage is the average.

While a place has fewer than 3 reviewers, it shows a count instead ("1 of 1 would come back"), because one person is not 100% of anything.

Next to the score you'll see the number of regulars: people who visited on two or more different days (by reviewing again or tapping "I came back"), or who said they're a regular when they reviewed. When two places have a similar score, the one with more regulars ranks higher.

A place earns a Regulars' Pick with:

  • At least 3 different reviewers
  • At least 1 regular
  • At least 80% would come back
What does Regular mean?+

A Regular is someone who keeps coming back. Review a place, or tap "I came back" on its page, on two different days and you're a Regular there. Saying "I'm a regular" when you review counts too.

Your profile shows the places you're a Regular at, and the ones you're one visit away from. When two places have a similar score, the one with more Regulars ranks higher.

What is Visit checked?+

The photo was taken at the place, or the review was posted there: within about 150 metres, around the time of the visit. It's a location check, not proof. Someone could fake their location, so read it as one signal alongside the review itself.

How rankings work+

The leaderboard starts fresh on the 1st of every month.

  • People who keep showing up: the most return visits this month, meaning reviews of a place the person had already reviewed on an earlier day. Only public reviews count, and guest accounts aren't listed.
  • Where people keep going: visits this month from reviews and "I came back" taps, one per person per place per day. Private taps only ever count as totals, never by name.

Restaurants can't pay to move up, hide a review or buy a badge. We can't automatically tell who works at a restaurant, so if you spot a review by the owner or staff, report it. One review per person, per place, per day, so no one can flood a page. Advertising may come one day, but it would be clearly labelled "Sponsored" and kept apart from reviews and rankings.

Every label, explained+
I'd come back
The reviewer would go back. A full vote for the place.
Maybe
They might go back. Half a vote. Not a bad review, just not a sure one.
Not for me
They wouldn't go back. It counts as zero. It's one person's visit, not a verdict on the place forever.
Food stars
How the food tasted, 1 to 5. They rate the food only and don't change the come-back score.
Regular
Someone who has been to a place on two or more different days, or said "I'm a regular" when they reviewed. On a profile, "Regular at" lists those places.
Visit checked
The photo was taken at the place, or the review was posted there. It's a location check, not proof: someone could fake their location, so it is one signal among several.
Regulars' Pick
Enough reviewers, at least one regular and a high come-back score. Earned, never paid for.
Helpful
Other people found the review useful. It sorts reviews; it doesn't change the place's score.
New / 1 review so far
Too few reviews for a percentage yet.
Waiting for a first review
A place from OpenStreetMap with no reviews on Regulars yet. It joins properly with its first review.
The feed and following+

The home screen is a feed of what people are eating: For you, Near you and Following. Because taste is personal, you can follow people whose taste matches yours and see their reviews first.

Profiles show someone's photos, the places they're a regular at and the badges they've earned. You can comment, mark a review Helpful, save a place for later, and share any review as a picture for your Instagram or Facebook story.

Privacy+

We use your location to find places near you and for the Visit checked mark. It's never shown to anyone, and we strip location data from every photo before it's uploaded. Your "I came back" taps are private.

Restaurant owners+

Owners and managers join by invitation, so no one can take over a place's page by claiming it. Once you're in, you can:

  • Keep your details up to date: hours, phone, website and a short description
  • Build your menu with sections, descriptions and several prices per dish
  • Add official photos
  • Reply publicly to reviews, and get an alert when someone reviews your place
  • See your numbers: reviews, come-back answers, saves and how you rank in your town

What owners can't do: review their own place, hide or remove reviews, change a score, or buy a better rank or a badge. To get an invite, email us.

The app and notifications+

Regulars runs in your browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. Notifications for comments, follows, new regulars and replies work on Android in Chrome, and on iPhone once Regulars is on your home screen. How to install
